REFLECTIONS: "Shell Shocked"

When i first got home i didn't say much. i felt like if i opened my mouth to tlak i would start to cry, that probabaly had a lot to do with being overtired. The thing i noticed most was how big and spread apart the housese here are. Even though they don't seem like it to us, compared to neighborhoods down there we have tons of room! i feel really drawn to go back and feel like i cant really appriciate being home because all i think about it was happened down there and the people. I will get back in the groove but like Scott said i have a little "shell shock" right now.

Andy and I were discussing the "melancholy" with Amanda in the past couple of days. She even turned down dinner at Longhorn on Sunday night! It was helpful to have Delta Ministries share that this would be the norm for some on their return from missions trips. We were so thrilled to have "our girls" home that had we not expected the heaviness on their hearts it may have been a difficult reunion.

We praise God daily for the impact He has made on Amanda & Kelsey, the team, their families, and friends through this Katrina restoration missions trip. We continue to pray for those without homes, who have lost families, who lack the resources to rebuild, and for the communities that are just a shell of their former selves.

For all the team members we are all so proud of you! Your work has a ripple effect. Though you were not able complete as much work as you would have liked, you touched many lives and that will then carry on to others. What a blessing that you represented not only FBC, but the body of Christ in your words and deeds!

Blessings, Alicia
