Check out this story that Sandy K emailed to me today. Pretty cool!
"While I was waiting for my van to be washed at the car wash, I was standing next to a woman who was waiting for her car to be washed, too. When I said hello to her, she started sharing that she lives nearby and she notices every Sunday morning when she goes to get the newspaper how full our church parking lot is, and at various other times during the week. She always wonders what's going on, etc., and said, "Your church must be doing something right." To see our kids working so hard to earn money for their missions trip really touched her heart, and she just shook her head in amazement while observing them. I was so excited to be able to chat with her about God and church in general. I invited her to attend our Sunday service sometime, to which she replied she would."

New dorms for New Orleans teams.
"By the end of June/early July we are going to have some new accommodations arriving. They are pre-built houses that are unfinished on the inside courtesy of Davie Shoring. And that is where you come in. We need your help to finish the inside of these dorms. Our material needs include:· wood to make bunk beds.· 10 “motel-style” air conditioners· flooring· sheetrock and paint for the walls. "
I don't know that these new dorms are where some of us will be working, but they might be. The church has committed to hosting missions teams for several years to come. These new dorms will be great places for teams to stay while they come to work.
I wonder what the Lord has for us? Whatever it is, I know we will all be ready to step up and serve!
Blessings!

$2000+ at our yard sale / car wash????
Yes! The Prime Time team spent the entire day Sunday sorting thousands of donated items that the First Baptist Church family brought in to support our Katrina Team fundraiser. Hundreds of books, piles of clothes, bicycles, snowboards, lamps, furniture ... we had it separated into "departments."
At 6:45 am on Monday morning we met to bring all of it out into the front parking lot to begin the sale which began at 8:00. Early birds showed up shortly after 7:00 to begin setting aside their treasures.
By 9:00 am our free car wash was in full swing. When people learned of our cause they routinely gave as much as $10 to have their cars washed.
Generosity was the theme of the day! One woman bought a small, glass, bobble and wrote out a check for $100 to help us help Hurricane Katrina victims. Wow!
We had no "large-ticket" items to offer, yet, at the end of the day our total stood at $2040.77. We're sure the Lord has big plans for us in New Orleans. He's provided more than we had hoped or dreamed.

We will be updating this blog often throughout the coming weeks and then daily during our trip. If you bookmark it our add it to your favorites, you'll be able to share in our trip and know how to pray for us.
Thanks so much to all who have supported us in reaching and surpassing our goal of raising $20,000.00 to get the 24 of us to New Orleans July 7-15.
